SUSTAINABILITY

WELL Health-Safety Rated

Kilroy is embracing WELL Certifications and Health-Safety Ratings, a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact the health, safety, and happiness of our partners. Being WELL Health-Safety Rated, 909 and 999 North Pacific Coast Hwy has achieved recognition on the following six health-safety themes:

  • Cleaning and Sanitization Procedures
  • Emergency Preparedness Programs
  • Health Service Resources
  • Air & Water Quality Management
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Innovation

We’re proud to recognize these features that promote best practices in design and construction to achieve optimal health and wellness.

Green Cleaning

Kilroy Realty has always used the most advanced green cleaning products and practices in all of our buildings. We are constantly searching for the latest information on green cleaning and update our cleaning services whenever we see an opportunity to further minimize the environmental impact of our custodial practices. 909/999 North Pacific Coast Highway has an excellent Green Cleaning program.

In addition, we are proud to announce that our janitors are all graduates of the Green Janitor Education Program. Janitors who receive this training are educated on sustainability, which include topics such as light management, water leak detection, and vampire power or also known as standby power.

Sustainable Purchasing

Kilroy Realty understands the significant role material selection plays in the operation of a sustainable building. There are many negative health and environmental consequences throughout a material’s life cycle of extraction, processing, transportation, use and disposal. Responsible purchasing can significantly reduce that impact to the planet.

Carbon Neutral Operations Commitment

In 2018, Kilroy Realty announced at the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) that we commit to establishing carbon neutral operations by year end 2020. In addition to ongoing efforts to reduce energy consumption and maximize all solar and battery installation opportunities on-site, we will make the remainder of the energy consumption 100% renewable by adding capacity to the grid through an offsite energy power purchase agreement. Recycling

Our goal is to divert 35% of our landfill waste to recycling and/or compost by the end of 2020. A higher diversion rate is great for the environment and it lowers our refuse bill – a savings that’s ultimately passed back to you. 909/999 North Pacific Coast Highway is currently at a 28% diversion rate, so we’ll need everyone’s participation to boost that up to 35%!

Recycling bins can be purchased for your office by completing the Recycling Order form.  Click here for more information and tips from Waste Management.
